REF. 2499J 3rd Series “Yellow Gold”
An Extremely Rare Patek Philippe Reference 2499J 3rd Series “Yellow Gold”
Circa 1976
Patek Philippe Reference 2499 stands as the ultimate statement piece & and is the most iconic references from Patek Philippe — instantly recognizable and passionately pursued by both modern and vintage collectors.
Introduced in 1951 as the successor to the legendary reference 1518 — the world’s first perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch produced in series — the 2499 remained in production until 1985. Over its 35-year lifespan, only 349 examples were ever made. It unites three of the most revered complications in haute horlogerie: the perpetual calendar, chronograph, and moon phases.
Across its history, the 2499 evolved through four distinct series.
-
First series: Tachometer dial, applied Arabic numerals, and square chronograph pushers.
-
Second series: Retained the tachometer, with applied baton or Arabic numerals and round pushers.
-
Third series (1960–1978): Round pushers continued, but the tachometer was removed in favor of a cleaner dial with applied baton markers.
-
Fourth series: Nearly identical to the third, but distinguished by the introduction of a sapphire crystal
The present reference 2499 is a beautifully preserved example from the third series, offering collectors a rare chance to own one of the most important and sought-after Patek Philippe timepieces ever created.
Accompanied by: A Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 1976, a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1976.
The demand on reference has only been growing and to find one is becoming more challenging.
Perpétuel Gallery is honored to offer such piece to its collectors & for the for piece to find a new home.
