Extremely Rare REF. 130 AR

An extremely rare Patek Philippe Chronograph Reference 130 A/R
Steel & Rose, Gold Circa 1947

The Patek Philippe Calatrava Chronograph Ref. 130 A/R, a masterpiece of mid-century elegance, embodies the essence of Patek Philippe’s early chronograph heritage. Crafted circa 1947, this Second Series example seamlessly blends stainless steel and rose gold — a combination so rare that fewer than twelve examples are known to exist.

Measuring 33.5 mm, the case reveals a harmonious contrast: a stainless-steel body complemented by a rose gold bezel, pushers, and crown. The argenté dial, adorned with applied gold hour markers and a finely printed tachymeter scale, radiates understated refinement and technical purpose.

At its heart beats Patek Philippe’s legendary hand-wound caliber 13-130, derived from the revered Valjoux 23 ébauche — the same movement architecture that powered Patek’s most iconic chronographs, including references 530, 533, 1463, and 1518. Its precision and architecture stand among the finest achievements in traditional watchmaking, also embraced by contemporaries such as Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and Rolex.

Produced between 1934 and 1965, the reference 130 is one of Patek Philippe’s most celebrated chronographs, with only around 1,500 pieces ever made. Within this lineage, the bimetal steel-and-rose-gold variant stands as one of the most elusive — an exquisite intersection of rarity, beauty, and horological history.

Perpétuel Gallery is extremely happy to present  such example to friends & collectors, for the piece to find a new home & become a pillar or one more pillar to a collection.
