MB&F HM8 Mark 2 White
2023
An extraordinary fusion of automotive design, optical engineering, and avant-garde horology, the HM8 Mark 2 White represents one of MB&F's most accomplished interpretations of the supercar-inspired wristwatch. Conceived not merely as an instrument for telling time, but as a three-dimensional kinetic sculpture, it embodies the brand's relentless pursuit of mechanical creativity beyond the conventions of traditional watchmaking.
Crafted around a Grade 5 titanium chassis and clothed in lightweight white CarbonMacrolon®, the HM8 Mark 2 recalls the flowing coachwork of futuristic concept cars from the 1970s. Its distinctive double-bubble sapphire crystal, sculpted with remarkable complexity, reveals the mechanical architecture beneath while lending the watch an unmistakable silhouette unlike anything else in contemporary horology.
The display itself is a masterpiece of optical ingenuity. Rather than presenting the time on a conventional dial, MB&F employs a sophisticated system of sapphire prisms that refract the image of horizontally mounted jumping-hour and trailing-minute discs, allowing the time to be read vertically through the front of the case, much like the speedometer of a high-performance automobile. Inspired by the legendary Amida Digitrend of 1976 yet entirely re-engineered for the modern era, the result is both technically fascinating and effortlessly legible.
Powering the watch is the three-dimensional HM8 engine, built upon a Girard-Perregaux automatic calibre and enhanced by MB&F's proprietary jumping-hour module. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement is animated by the signature 22-carat gold "battle-axe" rotor, finished in vibrant green to complement the watch's subtle accents and reinforce its dynamic character.
Unlike its later green, blue, and purple siblings, each produced in highly exclusive editions of just 33 pieces, the White edition stands as the original expression of the HM8 Mark 2 and the purest representation of its design philosophy. Its restrained monochromatic palette allows the sculptural architecture, innovative display system, and extraordinary engineering to take centre stage without distraction.
Far more than an unconventional sports watch, the HM8 Mark 2 White is a celebration of imagination, engineering, and independent watchmaking at its most daring. It captures MB&F's philosophy that horology should not simply preserve tradition, but continuously challenge it—transforming mechanical timekeeping into an object of wonder that is equally at home on the wrist, in a gallery, or among the world's most significant contemporary watch collections.

ABOUT
MB&F
Mechanical Art, Reimagined
Founded in 2005 by Maximilian Büsser, MB&F represents one of the most imaginative voices in contemporary independent watchmaking. Conceived not as a traditional watch brand, but as a horological concept laboratory, MB&F creates three-dimensional mechanical objects that challenge convention and transform timekeeping into kinetic art.
A Vision Beyond the Conventional
MB&F was born from a desire to create without compromise. Rather than following established codes of classical watchmaking, the brand explores ideas inspired by aviation, architecture, science fiction, supercars, nature, and childhood imagination. Each creation begins with a story, a memory, or a dream, resulting in watches that feel more like mechanical sculptures than conventional timepieces.
Machines That Tell Time
At the heart of MB&F lies a distinction between watches designed simply to tell the time and Machines that happen to tell the time. The brand’s Horological Machines embrace radical forms, unconventional displays, and three-dimensional movement architecture, while its Legacy Machines reinterpret the spirit of traditional watchmaking through a distinctly contemporary lens. Together, these collections express two sides of the same philosophy: one futuristic, the other historically inspired, yet both unmistakably MB&F.
Innovation Through Collaboration
The “F” in MB&F stands for Friends, reflecting the collaborative spirit at the centre of the brand. Every Machine is created through the combined expertise of watchmakers, engineers, designers, case makers, finishers, artists, and specialists whose contributions are openly celebrated. This collective approach allows MB&F to push technical and artistic boundaries while preserving the human dimension of independent watchmaking.
Swiss Craftsmanship, Without Compromise
Every MB&F creation is developed and assembled in Switzerland, combining advanced engineering with meticulous hand-finishing. Movements are conceived as architectural structures, designed not only for performance but also for visual impact. Sapphire crystals, sculptural cases, innovative display systems, and complex movement constructions come together to create watches that are as technically remarkable as they are emotionally expressive.
A World of Mechanical Imagination
From automotive-inspired Horological Machines to the suspended balance wheels of the Legacy Machine collection, MB&F continuously expands the boundaries of what a watch can be. Its creations are playful yet serious, technically sophisticated yet deeply personal, often drawing upon the dreams and obsessions of Maximilian Büsser himself.
